Frisk your Fridge for a Facial!

Has it broken out again? Is it invading your pretty face? Every woman’s worst facenemy – Pimples!
Want to rid yourself from this pink outburst on your skin, well you need to look no further than your fridge. It’s time you skip those extra pricey, artificial ingredient induced facials and opt for a simple recipe that is easy on your wallets and equally easy to whisk. Just frisk your fridge for your Facial –

Fridge Facial #1: Whip up 2-3 egg whites (separates from yolks) until they’re frothy & let them sit for a few minutes. Apply the mixture to the pimple prone spots and allow the mask to sit for around 20mins. Then rinse it off with warm water, pat it off with a washcloth and apply some  moisturiser. The reason why egg whites are good for your skin is because they’re filled with proteins & vitamins that help to fight acne and soak up excess oil on your skin….which means your face is no more a feeding ground for bacteria!

Fridge facial #2:  Take 1tbsp of yogurt and mix it with approx. 1tbsp of honey. Apply this mixture on your face, keep this mask on for 20mins and then wash it off with cold water. This facial is helps to soothe your skin, shrink your pores and clear up your skin.

The Natural Way

Your face looks back at you from the mirror…does it look dry or oily or listless, or does it look glowing and radiant?
This depends on how you take care of your face. Start by giving yourself 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes at bedtime.

Tip 1:
Take 1 tbsp of un-boiled milk, dip a small pad of cotton wool in this and rub on the face gently. Use circular movements, use upward strokes on the neck area. Leave this on for 15 minutes. Wash with cold water.

Tip 2:
Take a thick slice of cucumber. Don’t peel the slice, rub in a circular motion all over the face and neck areas. Wash after 15 minutes.

Tip 3:
Halve a tomato, gently rub over face and neck and wash after 15 minutes.

Tip 4:
Take the half of a lime peel, from which the juice has been extracted, rub this firmly on the face and the neck. Using a Scrub-(once in 3-4 days).
After washing off the milk or juice – take a tsp of oat bran or wheat husk or gram flour (besan). Make a paste with a few drops of water and rub the face and neck gently with this. This sloughs away the dead cells and gives the face a glow. Don’t use soap, just splash on cold water that will act as an astringent and close the pores.

Tip 5:
Use green gram powder or rice flour mixed with curds instead.
Oily Skin: If the face is oily,
After a bath as a base for make-up use some diluted limejuice to dab on before application of foundation or any other make-up.

Tip 6:
Diluted buttermilk dabbed on the face and left for 15 minutes, gently wipe with moist cotton wool before applying make-up.

Tip 7:
Rub the face well with an ice cube.

Tip 8:
Slice an Apple into thin slices. Place these on the face and leave for 15 minutes. These soak up the extra oil and helps close pores.

How it Works: For normal hair, use the entire egg to condition hair; use egg whites only to treat oily hair; use egg yolks only to moisturize dry, brittle hair, Cox says. Use 1/2 cup of whichever egg mixture is appropriate for you and apply to clean, damp hair. If there isn’t enough egg to coat scalp and hair, use more as needed. Leave on for 20 minutes, rinse with cool water (to prevent egg from “cooking”) and shampoo hair. Whole egg and yolks-only treatments can be applied once a month; whites-only treatment can be applied every two weeks.

Health Tips

  • Water is of prime importance. Make it a habit to drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water every single day.
  • Sleep well. Keep that mobile phone / tab away after a particular time. Do not stay awake till late at night.
  • Sweat it out. Exercise for at least 30 minutes every day.
  • Follow a good skin care routine. Do not skip the exfoliation part on a regular basis as without this, we cannot get rid of dead and dry skin that accumulates and makes our complexion appear dull. You needn’t always buy a scrub. Homemade scrubs are just as effective! Use oatmeal as an exfoliator instead of a packaged product. There are many options!
  • Remove your makeup before you sleep every night. Yes, do this every night without fail no matter how dead tired you are! With makeup on, your skin cannot repair itself.
  • Incorporate Vitamin A and Vitamin C rich foods in your diet. This will bring a natural glow to your skin. Vitamin C tablets are available as well. You can have one every day after your lunch for a clearer skin tone.
